Institution Overview

Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, is a world-renowned research-intensive university, ranked 15th globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. NTU is recognized for its academic excellence, groundbreaking research, and global outlook. The university offers a vibrant, interdisciplinary research environment with state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive support services.

About the Lab

Dr. Chuchu Wang will join NTU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) as an Assistant Professor in November 2025 and has been awarded the prestigious Nanyang Assistant Professorship (NAP) grant. The lab will be well-funded and housed in a dynamic and collaborative research environment.

Dr. Wang received her Ph.D. in Cell Biology in 2019 under the supervision of Dr. Cong Liu at the Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 2020 to 2025, she conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University under the guidance of HHMI Investigator Prof. Axel Brunger, focusing on structural and molecular neuroscience. Dr. Wang has published as first or co-first author in journals including Nature, Nature Aging, Nature Cell Biology, Nature Communications, Nature Protocols, National Science Review, PNAS, eLife, and Bioinformatics.

Mass spectrometry (MS) is an analytical technique used to measure the mass-to-charge ratio (m/z) of ions. It is a powerful tool for identifying the chemical structure of molecules in biological samples, including small molecules (metabolomics), proteins (proteomics), peptides (proteomics), and other biomolecules (lipidomics). We are working on the bioinformatics method and algorithm development (Deep Learning and Maching Learning) for Mass Spectrometry data processing and analysis, including whhole workflow of MS data, and metabolic network analysis. We are also working on the integration of MS data with other omics data, such as transcriptomics, proteomics and microbiome data (see below for more).

Research is defined as the creation of new knowledge and/or the use of existing knowledge in a new and creative way so as to generate new concepts, methodologies and understandings. This could include synthesis and analysis of previous research to the extent that it leads to new and creative outcomes.
